January 3, 2012
January 3rd brings yet another day of demolition in the bathroom off of our bedroom. Honey made a lot of progress today & it is now one large space, instead of two small ones! I am impressed by how much he accomplished & excited about how the finished product will turn out… even though we are a long ways from that yet.
Day 3 - Bathroom Demo
You can see from the flooring in this photo where the closet used to be & where the bathroom used to be – wood floor in the closet & tile in the bathroom. To the left of the photo you can see where there was a long narrow hallway in the bathroom, a space which is about to be swallowed up by the closet. Goodbye wasted space – I will not miss you! I give my hubby a lot of credit for all of his hard work today & always when he works around our house. This morning when I left for work there was still a closet in our room & I came home to this great open space. Not only had he torn out all the walls, he had also disposed of all the drywall & even tried his best not to get dust all over our room. Thanks Honey! I am such a lucky girl to have a husband who is so handy! xo While I will post more pictures of our progress soon it won’t be tomorrow… not going to bore you every day with pictures of the changes… that’s not very exciting! I would rather wait until we have accomplished something more substantial! Tomorrow something more interesting…. I promise!
I almost never make new year’s resolutions…. most likely because I almost NEVER keep them. I do well for a day or so, maybe a week if I am lucky, but for the most part by January 5th my new year’s resolutions have usually gone down the drain. So, I decided years ago that it wasn’t even worth making a resolution for the new year when I knew I wasn’t going to keep it. I mean really, why bother? But this year I came up with a resolution (maybe more of a challenge) that I actually want to keep. My goal for 2012 is to take a photo a day. It doesn’t have to be of anything specific, just a photo a day. And, I am happy to report, that two days into the new year, I have successfully taken two photos. I know, I know, it will be much more impressive when I can say I have successfully taken say 300 photos, but two is a start! Happy New Year everyone!

Day 1 - Our Bug
Our bug is the newest addition to our collection of strange “pets”. He was one of our Christmas presents, “won” at a Christmas gift exchange…. Although I think he is cute, it was Honey who wanted him the most… to sit on our deck in the summer next to the wooden cooler & be a beer cap collector. The intention of course, is to toss the beer caps into the bugs bucket. He will come in quite handy on hot summer afternoons!

- Day 2 – Ensuite Bathroom Demo
January 2nd has meant the start of the bathroom renos in our house. We have been talking about reworking the ensuite in our room for some time… to make more room in the closet & in the bathroom. I am most looking forward to a bigger shower. The old one was, well, tiny. I am not even sure how my hubby fit in the darn thing it was that small. So, the demos have started & we are on the road to a bigger & better bathroom! Stay tuned for more photos as our work progresses.
So, I know what you are thinking… does the world really need another blog? Does it need another blog about food, photography & everyday life? Well, probably not. But I am still going to write it. I suppose that is the beauty of blogging… I can write whatever I like & you can chose to read it… or not. The decision is entirely up to you.
Until recently I never really thought much about blogging or followed too many. My friend Vanessa has a wonderful blog, Pints and Teapots, which she actually writes too infrequently for my liking. Before Ness got busy dreaming up ways to decorate her house she used to publish regularly on Fridays… her blog would be the best part of my day & something I always looked forward to. Reading Pints and Teapots got me to thinking that maybe blogging is a really good creative outlet & that I should try it out. Having said that, I am sure this will not be so eloquent as Nessa’s blog. Although I’d like to think that I can write formally fairly well (seven years of university will do that to a person) this will not be formal. In fact, intend it to be pretty laid back & written in the casual, rambling way I write emails.
I intend to share my favourite recipes & photos all while rambling on about life. What you will find here is just a whole lot of BS….
